open+ is now in operation at Orton Library.

open+ gives you access to library materials, public computers and quiet, creative spaces to meet or study even while the building is unstaffed making the building available at times that are convenient to you.

You’ll need to register for open+ to use the library during unstaffed hours by talking to a member of staff at your branch.

  • Picture and board books
  • Talking books on tape, CD and MP3
  • DVDs and music CDs
  • Renewal of books 24hrs per day by phone or Internet
  • Reading advice
  • 24/7 access to online information and resources newspapers,
    reference books, journals and encyclopedias.
  • Access to Council information
  • Free use of PCs and access to the Internet*
  • Enquiry and information service
  • Local and community information
  • If you do not have a PIN or have forgotten it, please see a member of library staff with your library card and a form of ID.

Regular events and activities include:-

- Storytime,
- Rhymetime,
- Reading groups,
- Homework club,
- Free computer taster sessions
- And family history starter sessions.

Look out for new events and activities on our website or in our library.

Library staff will help you with computer use, advice about learning qualifications and local courses.

You can use newspapers, books, local directories like Yellow Pages, DVDs and the internet.

To renew your loans you can use our automated phone line or renew using the library catalogue. Both are available at any time of day or night.
