Cambridgeshire Deaf Association COVID-19 support

We are working hard to support members of the Deaf community who may be struggling at these times. We have set up a volunteer base and we have volunteers working hard to reduce isolation, deliver food and medication and stay in touch with many people at the moment.
We can off a volunteer if you are a Deaf resident of Cambridgeshire or Peterborough and we our volunteers are able to deliver food and medication if you are shielding or self-isolating. Our volunteers have just begun to return to home visits and these will be following all social distance guidelines of staying 2m apart. Our volunteers will happily meet with you in your garden or go for a walk with you (remaining 2m apart) and we can chat/ sign with you to improve your social well-being at this difficult time.
Our community events have been transferred on to Zoom meetings where we can all chat and socialise with each other virtually and the sessions are running most days every week. We also have exercise videos to follow for this who are interested and other times we use Zoom to sign with each other and generally keep spirits up. All of our Drop-in and community events will be shared on our facebook page.
We also have an Advocacy and Casework team who are continuing to work from home to ensure clients are provided with the support necessary to carry on living independently, increasing emotional well being, maintaining work and personal relationships and Advocating for clients rights to communication support and human rights at this time.
