Royal Voluntary Service Cambridgeshire COVID-19 support

Royal Voluntary Service can help older people maintain their independence and stay involved in the local community.
We have volunteers across Cambridgeshire who offer help and support so older people can stay independent at home in Cambridge, Huntingdon, Peterborough, St Ives, Hartford, Bretton and the surrounding areas.
See our local services below but we may be able to offer you more. If you can't find something suitable for you or a loved one then just ask.
As everyone is different, Royal Voluntary Service can tailor support to your individual needs. We’ll visit you at home and work with you to create a support package that suits you.
All our volunteers have been DBS checked.

Coronavirus update 4/5/2020
Royal Voluntary Service, the charity behind the NHS Volunteer Responders scheme, has launched an emergency appeal to raise £5million in order to continue to support the thousands of older and vulnerable people who benefit from its help, and the large numbers of people contacting the charity seeking support during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Virtual Village Hall is a new programme of themed video sessions led by expert tutors and some well-known faces, Royal Voluntary Service activity coordinators and volunteers, and supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Activities include gentle exercise, arts and crafts, cooking and baking, technology skills and quizzes with beatboxing, laughter yoga and Zumba Gold planned too. Winner of The Great British Sewing Bee 2019, Juliet Uzor, will be demonstrating how to sew a simple tote bag and couture stitcher Georgina Bellamy will introduce basic embroidery for beginners.
Sessions will be available seven days a week with both live and pre-recorded activities to join in with. Some downloadable guides will be available to print and share and there will be links to official government guidelines and Covid-19 information.
